Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Household Goods & Home Construction and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 4.43% or 2.54 points to trade at 59.82 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 4.41% or 5.35 points to end at 126.70 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.80% or 29.20 points to 798.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 7.43% or 43.20 points to trade at 538.60 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 4.29% or 33.60 points to end at 748.80 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 2.90% or 8.60 points to 287.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1082 to 773 and 455 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.70% or 28.45 to $1,700.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.69% or 3.73 to hit $83.22 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 4.03% or 3.43 to trade at $88.57 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.02% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP fell 0.93% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 111.82.
