Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.85% or 24.60 points to trade at 887.60 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.77% or 65.00 points to end at 2413.00 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) was up 2.62% or 0.040 points to 1.564 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 5.78% or 10.16 points to trade at 165.56 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 5.54% or 14.30 points to end at 243.70 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 2.99% or 11.75 points to 380.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1102 to 835 and 513 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.15% or 2.70 to $1768.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.22% or 1.00 to hit $82.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.83 to trade at $85.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.56% to 1.3801, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8429.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 93.755.
