Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Aerospace & Defense and General Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.20% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which rose 3.11% or 11.70 points to trade at 387.90 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 2.63% or 7.60 points to end at 296.90 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was up 2.25% or 16.80 points to 765.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which lost 3.96% or 18.10 points to trade at 439.30 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 3.81% or 5.70 points to end at 143.75 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 2.96% or 18.50 points to 606.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 854 to 786 and 484 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.85% or 17.05 to $1,997.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.25% or 0.18 to hit $71.05 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $75.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 103.79.
