Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Construction & Materials and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 15.34% or 2,025.00 points to trade at 15,225.00 at the close. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) added 6.12% or 54.80 points to end at 949.60 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 3.34% or 9.90 points to 306.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML), which lost 2.34% or 60.00 points to trade at 2,501.00 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 2.07% or 2.96 points to end at 139.94 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) shed 1.99% or 39.00 points to 1,926.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1086 to 1020 and 369 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.50% or 10.05 to $2,016.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.90% or 1.38 to hit $73.86 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.46% or 1.14 to trade at $79.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 103.35.
