Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which rose 3.74% or 25.80 points to trade at 715.80 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 3.43% or 19.40 points to end at 585.60 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) was up 2.06% or 23.50 points to 1,166.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 2.14% or 34.00 points to trade at 1,552.50 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 0.96% or 31.50 points to end at 3,254.50 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) shed 0.95% or 20.00 points to 2,076.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1106 to 599 and 505 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.54% or 9.80 to $1,825.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.18% or 0.93 to hit $78.03 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.20% or 1.01 to trade at $82.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 103.64.
