Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BP PLC (LON:BP), which rose 2.30% or 11.40 points to trade at 507.80 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 2.19% or 3.00 points to end at 140.24 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 2.08% or 49.00 points to 2,410.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 4.14% or 30.29 points to trade at 702.00 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 2.61% or 20.60 points to end at 767.80 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) shed 1.83% or 21.50 points to 1,152.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1105 to 708 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.85% or 16.80 to $1,988.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.29% or 0.94 to hit $73.75 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.79 to trade at $78.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.46% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 102.12.
