Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which rose 3.37% or 105.50 points to trade at 3,236.50 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 3.22% or 24.00 points to end at 768.80 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) was up 2.17% or 11.60 points to 546.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX), which lost 4.11% or 25.80 points to trade at 602.60 in late trade. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) declined 3.92% or 80.50 points to end at 1,975.50 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 3.82% or 59.00 points to 1,485.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 899 to 859 and 502 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.59% or 10.40 to $1,771.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.21% or 0.20 to hit $94.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.11 to trade at $101.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 108.41.
