Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Household Goods & Home Construction and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which rose 1.81% or 0.86 points to trade at 48.05 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 1.17% or 16.00 points to end at 1,388.50 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was up 0.95% or 5.40 points to 571.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 4.25% or 32.20 points to trade at 725.00 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 1.52% or 6.70 points to end at 433.30 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) shed 1.46% or 84.00 points to 5,682.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.05% or 0.95 to $2,070.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.32% or 2.44 to hit $76.00 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.19% or 2.51 to trade at $81.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 101.24.
