Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Household Goods & Home Construction and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which rose 1.81% or 0.86 points to trade at 48.05 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 1.17% or 16.00 points to end at 1,388.50 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was up 0.95% or 5.40 points to 571.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 4.25% or 32.20 points to trade at 725.00 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 1.52% or 6.70 points to end at 433.30 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) shed 1.46% or 84.00 points to 5,682.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 863 to 669 and 501 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.71% or 14.65 to $2,065.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $73.94 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.08 to trade at $79.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 101.39.
