Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Travel & Leisure and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 10.84% or 105.70 points to trade at 1,080.50 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 5.13% or 27.20 points to end at 557.80 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 3.70% or 2.59 points to 72.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 3.64% or 4.65 points to trade at 123.00 in late trade. Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) declined 2.22% or 124.00 points to end at 5,456.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) shed 1.82% or 33.00 points to 1,783.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 863 to 803 and 499 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.52% or 10.00 to $1,923.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.00% or 1.39 to hit $67.98 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.03% or 1.51 to trade at $72.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 102.15.
