Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Electrical and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 3.31% or 46.00 points to trade at 1438.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 2.10% or 28.00 points to end at 1361.50 and Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU) was up 2.09% or 3.32 points to 162.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 3.65% or 31.40 points to trade at 829.60 in late trade. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) declined 2.53% or 138.00 points to end at 5322.00 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) shed 2.14% or 118.00 points to 5400.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1072 to 1006 and 325 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.56% or 6.80 to $1198.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.58% or 0.42 to hit $71.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.21 to trade at $81.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.3175, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8917.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.84.
