Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Electrical and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq), which rose 3.04% or 38.00 points to trade at 1,289.00 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 3.02% or 4.25 points to end at 144.95 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) was up 2.28% or 29.50 points to 1,325.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 4.92% or 26.00 points to trade at 502.00 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 4.14% or 99.00 points to end at 2,290.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 2.68% or 36.00 points to 1,307.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 986 to 725 and 468 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.01% or 19.75 to $1,979.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.63% or 0.45 to hit $71.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.30 to trade at $75.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.45% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 102.97.
