Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Transportation and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 3.12% or 2.42 points to trade at 80.08 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 2.85% or 106.00 points to end at 3,828.00 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 2.72% or 1.80 points to 67.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which lost 2.95% or 17.60 points to trade at 579.40 in late trade. GSK plc (LON:GSK) declined 2.04% or 36.60 points to end at 1,754.80 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 1.91% or 43.00 points to 2,205.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1053 to 692 and 480 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.55 to $1,741.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.05% or 2.11 to hit $104.84 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.34% or 2.45 to trade at $107.10 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 106.84.
