Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical, Industrial Transportation and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.13% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SSE PLC (LON:SSE), which rose 5.01% or 77.50 points to trade at 1623.50 at the close. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) added 2.69% or 36.00 points to end at 1375.00 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) was up 1.79% or 0.31 points to 17.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 11.34% or 186.00 points to trade at 1454.50 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 3.30% or 5.72 points to end at 167.72 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 2.97% or 3.34 points to 109.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1135 to 1065 and 230 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.00% or 35.20 to $1727.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.33% or 1.59 to hit $66.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.18% or 1.54 to trade at $69.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.15% to 1.3850, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.8479.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 92.938.
