Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Life Insurance/Assurance and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 10.34% or 18.75 points to trade at 200.10 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 9.33% or 69.00 points to end at 808.40 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 7.79% or 5.72 points to 79.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Relx PLC (LON:REL), which lost 6.42% or 142.00 points to trade at 2,071.00 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 6.40% or 75.50 points to end at 1,105.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) shed 6.01% or 39.20 points to 612.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1029 to 959 and 360 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.95% or 38.90 to $2,034.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.71% or 3.24 to hit $122.64 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.98% or 3.67 to trade at $126.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 98.77.
