Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 3.47% or 17.40 points to trade at 518.40 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 2.12% or 98.00 points to end at 4,718.00 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) was up 1.96% or 102.00 points to 5,312.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 5.00% or 32.80 points to trade at 623.60 in late trade. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 2.31% or 44.00 points to end at 1,864.00 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) shed 1.45% or 2.45 points to 166.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1066 to 773 and 469 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.25% or 4.95 to $1,992.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.34% or 1.00 to hit $75.37 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 0.96 to trade at $79.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 102.16.
