Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Mining and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which rose 7.55% or 159.03 points to trade at 2264.00 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 2.53% or 42.00 points to end at 1705.00 and Shire PLC (LON:SHP) was up 2.40% or 92.00 points to 3925.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 2.00% or 25.00 points to trade at 1227.00 in late trade. Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) declined 1.73% or 3.00 points to end at 170.40 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 1.40% or 4.10 points to 288.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1157 to 763 and 458 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 7.35 to $1329.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.23% or 0.11 to hit $47.12 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.20 to trade at $52.66 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.34% to 1.2973, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.9162.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.65.
