Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Insurance and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Avast PLC (LON:AVST), which rose 7.05% or 39.40 points to trade at 598.20 at the close. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) added 3.29% or 228.0 points to end at 7166.0 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.79% or 12.90 points to 474.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV), which lost 2.80% or 94.0 points to trade at 3265.0 in late trade. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) declined 2.40% or 14.40 points to end at 585.00 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) shed 1.98% or 12.60 points to 623.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1067 to 929 and 495 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 2.65 to $1865.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.12% or 0.89 to hit $78.80 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 1.00 to trade at $81.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.17% to 1.3435, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.8492.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 95.265.
