Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Mobile Telecommunications and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.06% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 4.97% or 96.50 points to trade at 2,038.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.91% or 18.40 points to end at 488.60 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 3.43% or 3.22 points to 97.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU), which lost 2.05% or 22.00 points to trade at 1,053.50 in late trade. Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) declined 1.90% or 54.00 points to end at 2,794.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 1.85% or 26.50 points to 1,409.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 978 to 846 and 456 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.08% or 1.45 to $1,864.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.14% or 0.91 to hit $79.23 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.14% or 0.99 to trade at $85.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 103.12.
