Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Household Goods & Home Construction and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 8.16% or 62.80 points to trade at 832.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 4.87% or 6.45 points to end at 139.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 4.38% or 17.80 points to 424.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which lost 4.28% or 5.00 points to trade at 111.75 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 2.65% or 14.20 points to end at 522.20 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) shed 2.64% or 178.00 points to 6,568.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 952 to 795 and 514 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.97% or 33.65 to $1,675.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.39% or 3.00 to hit $85.48 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.10% or 2.92 to trade at $91.18 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 109.29.
