Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Banking and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG), which rose 5.04% or 376.0 points to trade at 7844.0 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 2.91% or 360.0 points to end at 12720.0 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was up 2.66% or 37.00 points to 1426.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 7.08% or 187.00 points to trade at 2455.00 in late trade. Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) declined 3.97% or 128.0 points to end at 3099.0 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) shed 3.06% or 85.0 points to 2693.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1203 to 981 and 254 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.58% or 46.65 to $1762.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.90% or 0.62 to hit $68.47 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.56% or 0.40 to trade at $70.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.3867, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8479.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 92.815.
