Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electrical, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 5.43% or 4.72 points to trade at 91.70 at the close. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) added 2.99% or 1.29 points to end at 44.42 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was up 2.73% or 56.00 points to 2,109.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 8.62% or 62.60 points to trade at 663.40 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 4.80% or 41.80 points to end at 829.40 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) shed 4.34% or 102.00 points to 2,247.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1096 to 679 and 486 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.75% or 13.35 to $1,762.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.36% or 3.73 to hit $81.86 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.02% or 2.80 to trade at $90.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.55% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 106.67.
