Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Tobacco, Gas, Water & Multiutilities and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.02% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq), which rose 381.48% or 7.21 points to trade at 9.10 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 1.69% or 31.00 points to end at 1,864.50 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) was up 1.54% or 17.50 points to 1,152.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq), which lost 66.77% or 0.40 points to trade at 0.20 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 8.67% or 65.40 points to end at 688.60 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 6.82% or 11.80 points to 161.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1135 to 698 and 465 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 7.55 to $1,812.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.66% or 0.60 to hit $90.16 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.56% or 0.54 to trade at $96.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 106.15.
