Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical, Automobiles & Parts and General Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DCC plc (LON:DCC), which rose 1.69% or 110.0 points to trade at 6620.0 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 1.53% or 18.00 points to end at 1192.00 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 1.45% or 3.30 points to 231.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 7.45% or 71.40 points to trade at 886.80 in late trade. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 3.40% or 10.00 points to end at 283.90 and Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) shed 2.48% or 2.95 points to 116.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1214 to 883 and 301 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1312.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.23% or 1.17 to hit $53.58 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.23% or 1.37 to trade at $62.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.20% to 1.2875, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8789.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 96.618.
