Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Insurance and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 2.78% or 8.35 points to trade at 308.70 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.68% or 3.90 points to end at 149.35 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 1.91% or 29.60 points to 1576.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 3.01% or 4.75 points to trade at 153.25 in late trade. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 2.75% or 12.70 points to end at 449.50 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) shed 2.07% or 32.50 points to 1538.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1014 to 1008 and 303 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 1.90 to $1203.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.08% or 0.74 to hit $69.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.79 to trade at $78.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.08% to 1.3162, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.8880.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 94.08.
