Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.10% or 38.40 points to trade at 791.60 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 3.14% or 252.00 points to end at 8,276.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 2.81% or 59.00 points to 2,156.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which lost 5.41% or 81.00 points to trade at 1,416.50 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 5.16% or 14.70 points to end at 270.00 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) shed 3.16% or 46.50 points to 1,425.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1089 to 682 and 489 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.78% or 13.35 to $1,726.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.28% or 0.27 to hit $96.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.45 to trade at $104.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 106.30.
