Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 4.12% or 6.4500 points to trade at 162.9000 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 3.75% or 245.00 points to end at 6770.00 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 2.06% or 8.950 points to 443.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sports Direct International PLC (LON:SPD), which lost 6.50% or 26.800 points to trade at 385.200 in late trade. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 6.05% or 14.800 points to end at 230.000 and International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (LON:ICAG) shed 4.72% or 26.00 points to 525.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1486 to 593 and 448 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 2.06% or 26.15 to $1292.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.98% or 0.45 to hit $45.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.36% or 0.65 to trade at $47.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.12% to 1.4627, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.7821.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.63% at 93.14.
