Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 2.20% or 18.30 points to trade at 848.80 at the close. BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) added 1.97% or 18.60 points to end at 963.30 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 1.71% or 46.00 points to 2737.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which lost 4.53% or 7.00 points to trade at 147.70 in late trade. Weir Group PLC (LON:WEIR) declined 3.21% or 47.00 points to end at 1418.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) shed 3.06% or 13.400 points to 424.100.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1191 to 897 and 492 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.75 to $1360.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.63% or 1.51 to hit $40.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.26% or 1.42 to trade at $42.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.20% to 1.3201, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8464.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 95.61.
