Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Transport and Sports sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 1.91% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS ORD (IS:TCELL), which rose 4.20% or 0.51 points to trade at 12.64 at the close. Global Yatirim Holding AS (IS:GLYHO) added 2.06% or 0.060 points to end at 2.970 and Ege Endustri ve Ticaret AS (IS:EGEEN) was up 1.93% or 7.00 points to 369.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Turk Traktor ve Ziraat Makineleri AS (IS:TTRAK), which lost 10.87% or 4.36 points to trade at 35.74 in late trade. Trabzonspor Sportif Yatirim ve Futbol Isletmeciligi Ticaret AS (IS:TSPOR) declined 8.50% or 0.130 points to end at 1.400 and Gozde Girisim Sermayesi Yatirim Ortakligi AS (IS:GOZDE) shed 6.97% or 0.200 points to 2.670.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 333 to 53 and 19 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.30% or 3.80 to $1251.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.53% or 0.79 to hit $52.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.66% or 1.00 to trade at $61.20 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.48% to 5.3392, while EUR/TRY fell 0.04% to 6.0740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 96.970.
