Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transport, Wood, Paper & Printing and Textile & Leather sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 rose 1.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Hurriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik AS (IS:HURGZ), which rose 13.33% or 0.160 points to trade at 1.360 at the close. ODAS Elektrik Uretim Sanayi Ticaret AS (IS:ODAS) added 8.19% or 0.370 points to end at 4.890 and GSD Holding AS (IS:GSDHO) was up 7.69% or 0.050 points to 0.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Turkiye Petrol Rafinerileri AS (IS:TUPRS), which lost 5.97% or 6.80 points to trade at 107.10 in late trade. Otokar Otomotiv ve Savunma Sanayi AS (IS:OTKAR) declined 1.41% or 1.05 points to end at 73.55 and Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikalari TAS (IS:EREGL) shed 1.34% or 0.140 points to 10.300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 326 to 52 and 31 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.50 to $1256.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.26% or 2.30 to hit $72.83 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.42% or 1.84 to trade at $77.98 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.27% to 4.6265, while EUR/TRY fell 0.24% to 5.3639.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 94.79.
