Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Sports, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Wood, Paper & Printing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 added 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Hurriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik AS (IS:HURGZ), which rose 19.42% or 0.200 points to trade at 1.230 at the close. Dogan Sirketler Grubu Holding AS (IS:DOHOL) added 19.18% or 0.140 points to end at 0.870 and Galatasaray Sportif Sinai ve Ticari Yatirimlar AS (IS:GSRAY) was up 10.05% or 0.20 points to 2.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Turk Traktor ve Ziraat Makineleri AS (IS:TTRAK), which lost 4.52% or 3.50 points to trade at 74.00 in late trade. Koza Anadolu Metal Madencilik Isletmeleri AS (IS:KOZAA) declined 2.43% or 0.160 points to end at 6.430 and Anel Elektrik Proje Taahhut ve Ticaret AS (IS:ANELE) shed 2.09% or 0.070 points to 3.280.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 221 to 135 and 54 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.98% or 12.80 to $1324.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.42% or 1.54 to hit $65.08 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.63% or 1.77 to trade at $69.19 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.32% to 3.9225, while EUR/TRY fell 0.11% to 4.8131.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 89.77.
