Investing.com -- Travelzoo Inc (NASDAQ:TZOO), the travel and entertainment deals platform, said Monday that it has created a new metaverse division.
While the new division hasn't helped to boost the company's shares, which are down 8%, the company says it will provide members with "exclusive access to the latest and best Metaverse travel experiences."
The company, which currently has 30 million members, plans to begin the launch of its Travelzoo META service in April, which will be a paid subscription-based service.
The metaverse destinations and experiences will not be produced by Travelzoo, but they will work with creators to make experiences exclusively available to Travelzoo META members.
Travelzoo said it has been assembling a team of metaverse travel experience scouts in collaboration with a partner since January.
"We believe that Metaverse spaces and its future destinations provide completely new and different experiences that consumers want to see," said Holger Bartel, Global CEO of Travelzoo. "The Metaverse is disruptive and abundant with lucrative opportunities for innovative companies that are willing to be the first movers."
