Torque Metals Ltd (ASX:TOR) has hit notably high-grade mineralisation in diamond drilling at the New Dawn Lithium Project in the Goldfields region of Western Australia, with intercepts assaying up to 2.45% lithium.
The inaugural drilling program over 6,628 metres consisted of four diamond drill holes for which assays have been received from two holes and 19 reverse circulation (RC) holes. Assays are pending from the other two diamond holes along with the RC holes.
Best assays from one diamond hole, 23NDDD005, include:
- 6.44 metres at 1.01% lithium, from 222.07 metres including 3.92 metres at 1.52% from 222.73 metres; and
- 3.66 metres at 1% lithium, from 207 metres including 2.63 metres at 1.24% from 209.07 metres.
Assay results imminent
"Confirmation of high-grade lithium mineralisation at depth, as well as exciting visual observations of shallow RC intervals underscores our confidence,” Torque Metals managing director Cristian Moreno said.
“I believe we are just touching on a significant lithium-tantalum deposit probably representing an extension of the adjacent Bald Hill mineralised system.
“The Eastern holes have intersected multiple thick, continuous zones of spodumene extending southeast towards Bald Hill, which we hope to confirm with assays.
“Favourably, these lodes remain open to the north and south, highlighting the outstanding potential that New Dawn holds.
“Our RC drilling has consistently intersected vertically stacked pegmatites in every single hole, with spodumene intercepts apparent under UV light.
“Having 19 reverse circulation (RC) and two diamond holes still pending assay, the company looks forward to delivering positive results from mid-November.”
TOR intends to expand the drilling program at New Dawn, as multiple lodes remain open to the north and south, and more than 90% of the tenure is yet to be drill tested.
