Technology Metals Australia Ltd (ASX:TMT), an advanced vanadium developer, has appointed Jo Gaines as a non-executive director of the company.

She brings extensive experience as a strategic policy director and leader in government, having served as the deputy chief of staff to the Premier of Western Australia.

Significant policy player

During her tenure, Gaines played a key role in significant policy development that shaped the economic and social landscape of Western Australia.

She was instrumental in intergovernmental negotiations and led the development of the WA Recovery Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, collaborating with state government agencies and the private sector to stimulate the local economy.

Gaines possesses a wealth of expertise in stakeholder engagement, having worked closely with government entities and the private sector on various initiatives, including training and job creation, contracting and procurement, climate change, child protection and health.

Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia and a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from Curtin University, and she is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Currently, Gaines serves as chair of the Government Employees Superannuation Board (GESB), a director of Development WA, and a non-executive director of Chalice Mining Ltd (ASX:CHN, OTCQB:CGMLF).

Focus on best practice

“We are very pleased that Jo will be joining us on the board of TMT,” chairman Michael Fry said.

“She brings tremendous experience and expertise in government relations and creating and maintaining stakeholder partnerships which will be of great value as the board supports the TMT team in its delivery of the MTMP.

"Her focus on governance and workplace best practice aligns with, and further strengthens, the board and company’s values and culture as we continue to grow the project team.”

Gaines said: “I am excited to have this opportunity to join the board of TMT and contribute to the delivery of Murchison Technology Metals Project (MTMP) to deliver high-grade vanadium, a critical mineral that will contribute to the global drive to decarbonisation.

“TMT with its added focus on downstream processing can make a significant contribution to renewable energy generation and battery storage and I look forward to working with the board and management team to continue to progress the project for the benefit of all stakeholders.”

Technology Metals Australia is focused on the development of its flagship Murchison Technology Metals Project in Western Australia, which is expected to meet the increasing global demand for high-purity vanadium.

TMT aims to be a leader in the vanadium industry, playing a vital role in supporting the growing demand for this critical metal, particularly in the vanadium redox flow battery sector.
