Schneider Electric (EPA:SCHN) has struck up a partnership with NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) to develop reference designs for AI data centres, aiming to enhance their efficiency, scalability and performance.
The initiative is a step forward in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into data centre operations, addressing the increasing demand for advanced computational power.
Combined expertise
The partnership will see the creation of the first publicly accessible AI data centre reference designs, combining Schneider Electric’s data centre infrastructure knowledge with NVIDIA’s AI technology expertise.
The objective is to set new standards for AI deployment and operations in data centres, reflecting the industry’s growing complexity and resource demands.
“We're unlocking the future of AI for organisations,” said Natalya Makarochkina, SVP Secure Power International at Schneider Electric.
“By combining our expertise in data centre solutions with NVIDIA's leadership in AI technologies, we’re helping organisations to overcome data centre infrastructure limitations and unlock the full potential of AI.
"Our collaboration with NVIDIA paves the way for a more efficient, sustainable and transformative future, powered by AI.”
The upcoming reference designs will focus on accommodating NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platforms, with particular attention to high-power distribution and liquid-cooling systems to manage high-density computing clusters effectively.
“Through our collaboration with Schneider Electric, we’re providing AI data centre reference designs using next-generation NVIDIA accelerated computing technologies,” said Ian Buck, vice president of Hyperscale and HPC at NVIDIA.
“This provides organisations with the necessary infrastructure to tap into the potential of AI, driving innovation and digital transformation across industries.”
Industrial settings
Further developments include the integration of AVEVA's digital twin platform with NVIDIA Omniverse, as part of Schneider Electric's broader strategy. This integration aims to enhance virtual simulations and collaborative processes in industrial settings.
“NVIDIA technologies enhance AVEVA's capabilities in creating a realistic and immersive collaboration experience underpinned by the rich data and capabilities of the AVEVA intelligent digital twin,” said Caspar Herzberg, CEO of AVEVA.
“Together, we are creating a fully simulated industrial virtual reality where you can simulate processes, model outcomes and effect change in reality. This merging of digital intelligence and real-world outcomes has the potential to transform how industries can operate more safely, more efficiently and more sustainably.”
The details of this collaboration and its impact on the AI and data centre landscape are expected to be further elaborated at the upcoming Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit in Paris.
