Talon Energy Ltd (ASX:TPD) has appointed chartered accountant Christopher Kohne as chief financial officer with immediate effect.

Kohne brings 15 years of experience in a diverse range of roles providing finance, commercial, business development and strategy advice to businesses operating in Australia and the United States.

He joins Talon from Wesfarmers (ASX:WES) Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers, and brings critical experience at a time the company is planning to expand its operations and seek out new growth opportunities.

Critical phase

Talon Energy managing director and chief executive officer Colby Hauser said: “Having Chris join our team is an important stage in the company’s evolution and I look forward to his assistance as we transition from an oil and gas explorer to producer.

“With the Walyering Project rapidly approaching first production and the Gurvantes XXXV Project in Mongolia starting its development phase, Talon continues to build its executive team as the company’s needs evolve. The addition of Chris will inject a valuable and experienced financial lens to our decision making.”

Kohne began his career at accounting and advisory firm KPMG, before joining US energy giant Hess Corporation (NYSE:HES), where he spent 10 years in various roles, including five in strategy and planning in New York.

The newCFO holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Science in Energy Economics from Curtin University.
