Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has appointed a new chief executive to lead the company through its next chapter.
Cain Fogarty, a geologist and mineral economist who hails from Wiluna Mining Corp, took up the top spot on August 11 and will work alongside managing director Vladimir Nikolaenko and Surefire’s senior leadership.
Nikolaenko said of Fogarty’s election: “The board and I are delighted with the appointment at this pivotal time as we advance the company’s key vanadium projects at Victory Bore and Unaly Hill, Perenjori Iron Ore and our emerging Yidby gold discovery.”
New CEO
Fogarty brings more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry — spanning exploration and resource growth, feasibility studies and executive management — to the team.
He’s worked across Australia, Africa and Asia and most recently served as general manager of geology and business development at Wiluna, where he helped grow the mineral resource and was responsible for regional development activity, including toll treatment and joint ventures.
Prior to that, Fogarty worked on exploration and development at Equinox Mineral’s Zambian copper projects through to the Barrick Gold takeover.
He also worked with CSA Global on the Caijiaying zinc-gold mine in China and with Barrick Gold in near-mine reserve development at a suite of WA gold mines.
Fogarty holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master in Ore Deposit Geology and a Master of Mineral Economics and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
