Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Information Technology and Motors sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.45% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which rose 12.50% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.900 at the close. Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA) added 12.20% or 7.50 points to end at 69.00 and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL) was up 10.92% or 6.40 points to 65.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG), which lost 12.60% or 7.80 points to trade at 54.10 in late trade. Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ) declined 10.71% or 7.20 points to end at 60.00 and Agstar PLC (CM:AGST) shed 10.53% or 0.60 points to 5.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 69 to 68 and 57 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.70% or 0.37 to $53.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.65% or 0.36 to hit $55.59 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.25% or 3.05 to trade at $1212.55 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.90% to 187.310, while USD/LKR rose 0.72% to 149.780.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 100.29.
