Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Trading, Diversified Holdings and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU), which rose 24.54% or 4.00 points to trade at 20.30 at the close. Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) added 23.04% or 8.80 points to end at 47.00 and Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL) was up 21.21% or 3.50 points to 20.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 24.43% or 635.10 points to trade at 1965.00 in late trade. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 14.18% or 214.90 points to end at 1300.10 and Carson Cumberbatch PLC (CM:CARS) shed 10.87% or 31.70 points to 260.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 92 to 69 and 51 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.23% or 0.51 to $40.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.10% or 0.46 to hit $41.33 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.11% or 13.90 to trade at $1234.70 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.05% to 206.625, while USD/LKR rose 0.30% to 145.790.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 95.91.
