Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction & Engineering, Trading and Banking, Financials & Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS), which rose 10.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.100 at the close. PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH) added 10.00% or 0.100 points to end at 1.100 and Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) was up 10.00% or 0.100 points to 1.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which lost 16.67% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.5000 in late trade. EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) declined 16.66% or 203.90 points to end at 1020.10 and Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) shed 11.11% or 0.100 points to 0.800.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 79 and 59 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.72% or 0.38 to $52.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.54% or 0.30 to hit $55.62 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.15 to trade at $1212.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.51% to 183.960, while USD/LKR fell 0.11% to 151.310.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 101.91.
