Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Palm Oil and Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.01% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 20.42% or 59.00 points to trade at 348.00 at the close. Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) added 18.19% or 361.60 points to end at 2350.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 14.29% or 0.1000 points to 0.8000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO), which lost 19.27% or 288.90 points to trade at 1210.00 in late trade. Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) declined 9.09% or 2.80 points to end at 28.00 and John Keells Hotels PLC (CM:KHL) shed 6.25% or 0.80 points to 12.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 73 and 65 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.99% or 0.48 to $49.10 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.95% or 0.47 to hit $50.11 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1243.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 2.80% to 208.425, while USD/LKR fell 2.02% to 144.700.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 94.25.
