Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Information Technology, Trading and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.05% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 25.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.5000 at the close. Trade Finance & Investments PLC (CM:TFIL) added 15.11% or 8.40 points to end at 64.00 and Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF) was up 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS), which lost 16.67% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.500 in late trade. Lanka Cement PLC (CM:LCEM) declined 10.71% or 0.30 points to end at 2.50 and City Housing and Real Estate Company PLC (CM:CHOU) shed 10.00% or 0.50 points to 4.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 106 to 51 and 65 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.08% or 0.05 to $65.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.34% or 0.24 to hit $71.00 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1185.80 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.27% to 203.700, while USD/LKR rose 0.17% to 160.440.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 96.51.
