Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Motors, Services and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU), which rose 22.39% or 1.50 points to trade at 8.20 at the close. Finance Company PLC (CM:TFC) added 22.06% or 1.50 points to end at 8.30 and Colonial Motors PLC (CM:COLO) was up 17.02% or 14.40 points to 99.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL), which lost 12.84% or 2.80 points to trade at 19.00 in late trade. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) declined 10.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) shed 7.41% or 100.00 points to 1250.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 159 to 40 and 31 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.60% or 0.27 to $45.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.50% or 0.23 to hit $46.63 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.27% or 3.65 to trade at $1358.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.76% to 188.720, while USD/LKR rose 0.06% to 145.910.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 96.19.
