Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Footwear & Textile and Plantations sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Lankem Ceylon PLC (CM:LCEY), which rose 9.86% or 7.00 points to trade at 78.00 at the close. Lighthouse Hotel PLC (CM:LHL) added 8.89% or 4.80 points to end at 58.80 and City Housing and Real Estate Company PLC (CM:CHOU) was up 8.89% or 0.80 points to 9.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO), which lost 16.67% or 11.00 points to trade at 55.00 in late trade. Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) declined 7.14% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL) shed 5.41% or 1.00 points to 17.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 52 and 52 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.85% or 0.38 to $45.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.12% or 0.52 to hit $47.04 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.11% or 1.45 to trade at $1328.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.46% to 190.950, while USD/LKR rose 0.21% to 146.850.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 95.48.
