Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction & Engineering, Healthcare and Footwear & Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.41% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM:MORI), which rose 14.94% or 63.70 points to trade at 490.00 at the close. Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU) added 14.29% or 1.20 points to end at 9.60 and Millennium Housing Developers PLC (CM:MHDL) was up 12.22% or 1.10 points to 10.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which lost 24.81% or 3349.00 points to trade at 10151.00 in late trade. Capital Alliance Finance PLC (CM:CAFL) declined 8.89% or 1.20 points to end at 12.30 and Autodrome PLC (CM:AUTO) shed 6.15% or 4.80 points to 73.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 119 to 64 and 67 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.67% or 0.31 to $46.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.76% or 0.37 to hit $48.79 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.36 to trade at $1219.66 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.36% to 199.215, while USD/LKR rose 0.01% to 153.660.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 95.45.
