Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Information Technology, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 21.00% or 63.00 points to trade at 363.00 at the close. Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) added 20.28% or 5.80 points to end at 34.40 and Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) was up 16.29% or 2.90 points to 20.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included City Housing and Real Estate Company PLC (CM:CHOU), which lost 10.71% or 1.20 points to trade at 10.00 in late trade. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) declined 9.09% or 0.100 points to end at 1.000 and Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) shed 8.62% or 198.20 points to 2100.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 102 to 58 and 61 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.30% or 0.54 to $41.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.33% or 0.58 to hit $42.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.19% or 2.60 to trade at $1354.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.19% to 191.730, while USD/LKR fell 0.51% to 145.040.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 95.67.
