Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Trading, Motors and Stores & Supplies sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 12.56% or 9.70 points to trade at 86.90 at the close. Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) added 11.11% or 4.50 points to end at 45.00 and Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) was up 9.38% or 120.00 points to 1400.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kotagala Plantations PLC (CM:KOTA), which lost 16.13% or 2.50 points to trade at 13.00 in late trade. Ramboda Falls PLC (CM:RFLL) declined 11.33% or 3.40 points to end at 26.60 and Ceylon Printers PLC (CM:CPRT) shed 9.27% or 7.20 points to 70.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 87 to 79 and 53 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.20% or 1.02 to $45.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.86% or 0.90 to hit $47.42 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.32% or 4.25 to trade at $1329.85 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.41% to 193.380, while USD/LKR fell 0.11% to 145.045.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.29.
