Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Trading and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.25%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH), which rose 33.33% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.400 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 25.00% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.5000 and Ramboda Falls PLC (CM:RFLL) was up 14.72% or 2.40 points to 18.70 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS), which lost 14.29% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.600 in late trade. Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC (CM:LION) declined 7.47% or 42.00 points to end at 520.00 and Bansei Royal Resorts Hikkaduwa Limited (CM:BANS) shed 7.41% or 0.40 points to 5.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 63 and 44 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.63% or 0.47 to $73.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.14% or 1.69 to hit $77.17 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.35% or 4.40 to trade at $1251.00 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was down 0.13% to 211.005, while USD/LKR rose 0.04% to 159.340.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 94.08.
