In a major development, the Solana blockchain is poised to become the first layer 1 blockchain to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) with the development of a ChatGPT plugin developed by Solana Labs.
Seamlessly integrated, this groundbreaking plugin enables users to effortlessly check wallet balances, transfer tokens and explore the world of NFTs with ease via the ChatGPT interface.
The Solana ChatGPT plugin represents a significant advancement in the blockchain industry as it is expected to make the blockchain platform more "user-friendly and accessible".
In addition, the Solana Foundation has introduced an AI accelerator program for university students and a strategic grant program to expedite the utilisation and integration of AI on the Solana network.
The Solana Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to the decentralisation, adoption, and security of the Solana network.

User-friendly and accessible
Highlighting the transformative impact that AI could have on its blockchain, Solana co-founder CEO Anatoly Yakovenko said: "Every developer building consumer-oriented apps should consider how their app can interact with AI models, as this represents a paradigm shift in computing.
“AI will make Solana more user-friendly and accessible."
Hub for AI activity in Web3
This integration empowers users to engage in various activities, including purchasing NFTs, token transfers, transaction analysis, interpretation of public account data and exploration of NFT collections based on floor prices.
Solana heralds features such as fast throughput, near-zero costs and user-friendliness that facilitate seamless and efficient interactions between AI models and the network.
While still in its early stages, the blockchain claims that it has emerged as a prominent hub of AI activity within the web3 ecosystem.
Developers can now access the plugin, available for download on Github, to leverage AI capabilities in comprehending Solana's data, protocols and computing infrastructure.
Grants program
In addition to the AI integration, the Solana Foundation has expanded its strategic grants program with a focus on AI.
Originally planned for $1 million, the program now offers up to $10 million in grants.
This initiative aims to encourage the ecosystem to explore novel use cases of machine learning models interacting with Solana protocols in secure and interpretable manners.
Furthermore, the Solana Foundation has launched a three-month-long accelerator program dedicated to university students.
