Sipa Resources Ltd (ASX:SRI) has the reverse circulation (RC) drill turning at the 100%-owned Skeleton Rocks Project in Western Australia’s Goldfields focused on lithium targets generated during an aircore drill program in March 2022.
The RC program, which was delayed slightly by wet weather, will consist of around 10 holes to nominal planned depths of 150 metres each for about 1,500 metres.
These holes will be angled directly under the geochemical anomalies encountered in Sipa’s March 2022 aircore program.
Logical place to begin
Sipa Resources managing director Pip Darvall said: "The focused geochemical halos we have identified at Skeleton Rocks are the logical place to commence drilling on a project that is well located in a proven WA lithium province.
"The program can be adapted as we progress based on results, and it is great to once again be out testing targets at another one of Sipa’s projects."
Halos of lithium and other pegmatite-associated elements (caesium and rubidium in this case) have a limited dispersion around the margins of known deposits, providing focused drill targets.
Deposits with similar characteristics include Tanco in Canada and Wodgina in Western Australia.
Proven lithium province
Skeleton Rocks targets being tested lie within unexplored greenstone units on the eastern margin of a large granite batholith.
The project is strategically located between the Great Eastern Highway and the Mt Holland Lithium Project being developed as part of a joint venture between Wesfarmers (ASX:WES) and Chilean mining major Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile SA (SQM).
Sipa has all necessary approvals in place to expand the drill program, should it be required, based on initial results.
